Metal Braces

Metal braces (traditional braces) have been used for over 100 years to straighten teeth and that’s because they work. The metal braces we offer at Moody Orthodontics are much smaller, less noticeable, and more comfortable than ever before. Moody Orthodontics offers both traditional “twin” metal braces and self-ligating braces that do not require elastic ties (more information below). Many of our patients choose the American brand metal braces because they can choose from a variety of colors for the ties used to hold the wire in place.

CERAMIC OR CLEAR BRACES

Ceramic braces (or “clear braces”) offer an aesthetic alternative to metal braces. Unlike the brackets in metal braces, ceramic brackets are clear and are designed to match your tooth color. This makes them nearly invisible. Moody Orthodontics is proud to offer one of the best options for clear braces: 3M Carity™ ADVANCED Ceramic Brackets and Technically BeautifulRadiance Plus™ by American . These braces do not stain or fracture and are superior to many other clear braces available.

invisalign

INVISALIGN/INVISALIGN TEEN

Invisalign is often the best and most esthetic and convenient option for those with a busy lifestyle as it requires fewer office visits and is just as effective as traditional braces. The technology uses a series of clear removable trays called “aligners” that are created from a scan of YOUR mouth. Dr. Moody will prescribe the movements of your teeth in small steps, until they reach the desired final position. With Invisalign, you can remove your aligners for special occasions, and to eat and drink whatever you want and it allow you to  brush and floss normally. For more information see our Invisalign page. If you have been told Invisalign isn’t an option for you call us today for a free second opinion.

self-litigating

SELF-LIGATING BRACES

Unlike traditional braces, self-ligating (or Damon non-ligating) braces do not require any metal or elastic ties to hold the archwire. Instead, self-ligating brackets use a small door that can be opened and closed to engage the wire. This reduces friction and allows the teeth to slide and move. In some cases self-ligating braces are more efficient and more comfortable than traditional braces. Call us today to see if this is the right choice for you.

tad

ANCHORAGE DEVICES (TADs)

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) are very small screws inserted into bone to aid specific tooth movement. TADs do not move, so they act like an anchor for teeth to move against. Once a TAD is no longer needed, it is removed from your mouth. What makes TADs special is that they can move teeth and correct malocclusions in ways that were nearly impossible a decade ago. In some cases, TADs can help avoid surgery or implant placement.

IDB

INDIRECT BONDING

Indirect bonding is a method used to place braces in a much more efficient and comfortable way. With indirect bonding, Dr. Moody begins by precisely and accurately placing each bracket on a custom model of your teeth or your child’s teeth outside of the mouth. Then, when it comes time to apply braces, the indirect bonding method allows your appointment to be significantly shorter and more comfortable, as Dr. Moody has a model to work off of.

RETENTION (RETAINERS)

Once you have achieved your perfect smile, Dr. Moody will give you a set of retainers to help maintain the alignment of your teeth and ensure they do not move back or “relapse” into their original position. Even years after orthodontic treatment, your teeth will have a tendency to move and shift. Therefore, it is important to continue to wear retainers throughout your life. We want your smile to last you a lifetime which is why we offer a lifetime retainer replacement plan. Call us today for more information.

Moody Orthodontics offers a variety of retention options such as:

  • Hawley-Type Retainers: removable, hard plastic retainers
  • Essix Retainers: removable, clear retainers
  • Fixed/Permanent Retainers: customized wires bonded onto the back side (lingual) of the teeth
